A Maryland man died Wednesday about an hour after being involved in a four-vehicle crash in Codorus Township.
Robert Keyser, 59, of Mount Airy, Md., was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday at York Hospital, according to York County Deputy Coroner Steve Cosey.
He said Keyser died of multiple blunt force trauma as a result of the crash. There will be no autopsy, Cosey said.
The crash occurred bout 5:30 p.m. on Route 216 near Two Springs Farm Lane, according to state police.
A pickup truck was traveling east on Route 216 when its driver crossed the double yellow line, went into the westbound lane and hit a Ford Focus - driven by Keyser - head on, according to police.
A westbound Mason Co. box truck came around the bend and struck Keyser's car. Then a westbound Chevrolet Caprice station wagon struck the pickup truck, which was in the middle of the road after its initial crash with Keyser's car.
The crash is under investigation. Speed and wet roadways are believed to be contributing factors to the incident, police said.
