Part of Interstate 83 southbound was shut down for about five hours Friday morning after an early-morning accident that injured two truck drivers.
A truck driven by Vincente Arambulo, 43, of Hanover was going southbound north of the North George Street exit in Manchester Township at 1 a.m. when Arambulo slowed down because of a construction zone ahead, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Taylor Stanley, 36, of Glouchester, Va., was driving another tractor-trailer behind Arambulo and hit Arambulo's truck, police said.
Stanley had to be extracted from his vehicle and was flown to York Hospital by Life Lion. He suffered major injuries, police said.
Arambulo was also taken to York Hospital with injuries, police said.
The highway reopened around 6 a.m., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Emergency crews from Manchester Township and Springettsbury Township as well as Northern Emergengy Services assisted state police at the scene.
The crash caused congestion along the Susquehanna Trail while traffic was detoured there, according to York County 911.
