A Harrisburg area man was intoxicated when he crashed his car into a West York bar last week, borough police said.

Michael Eugene Keith, 65, is charged with DUI, police said.

On July 1, Keith was driving a Volvo sedan south on Overbrook Avenue when the car jumped a curb, went over steps leading to the bar and struck the wall of the Overbrook Café.

Keith told emergency responders that he swatted at a bee that was in the car at the time of the crash, Ed Washington, West York fire chief, had said.

Keith was taken to York Hospital for minor injuries.

The car didn't penetrate the exterior wall of the bar, and firefighters deemed the building structurally sound. No one inside the Overbrook Café was injured.
