The National Weather Service was calling for a sunny and hot July 4, with a 30 percent chance of rain this evening.

But the rain held off and crowds were forming in and around the York Expo Center in anticipation of the annual July 4th concert and fireworks display.

Today's high was expected to hit 95 with a heat index of more than 100 possible.

The same is true on Thursday, and high temperatures through the weekend will remain in the 90s.

Saturday's high temperature is expected to reach 97.

Saturday is also the next time there's a substantial chance of precipitation, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening.
