A Peach Bottom Township man remains free on $5,000 bail, accused of knocking his 49-year-old girlfriend unconscious while they were attending a wedding reception in Lower Windsor Township.

David Vaughn Thompson, 60, of 5713 Delta Road, is charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment. One of his bail conditions forbids him to have any contact with live-in girlfriend Sharon L. Conley.

Thompson and Conley were at a wedding reception at Lauxmont Farms, 1215 Long Level Road, about 9 p.m. Saturday when they got into an argument on the dance floor, according to charging documents.

They moved to a more secluded area and kept arguing, at which point Thompson knocked a drink from Conley's hand, documents state.

When she tried to slap him, he grabbed her forearms, dragged her to a wooded area and "flung" her into a tree, causing her to lose consciousness, documents state.

Conley also suffered injuries to her cheek, forearms and knee, according to police, who said Thompson drove her to the hospital.

She was treated and released from York Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
