A York Revolution comeback bid came up short on Sunday evening.

As a result, the Revs were pushed a little closer to elimination in the Atlantic League Freedom Division first-half race.

The Revs rallied from a four-run hole to tie the game in the seventh, but the Lancaster Barnstormers used a three-run eighth to secure an 8-5 triumph at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Revs were forced to settle for a four-game split in the weekend series after winning the first two. The Revs will return home to host the Somerset Patriots at 6:30 Monday evening.

York's Andres Perez blasted a game-tying two-run homer to left field in the top of the seventh, tying the score at 5-5. It capped a comeback for the Revs, who trailed 4-0 and 5-1 early in the game.

Lancaster put the game away, however, with three runs on five hits in the eighth, receiving RBI singles from Jaime Pedroza, Terry Tiffee and Blake Gailen. The big inning finished off a 17-hit attack for the Lancaster offense.

Ramon Castro led off the York seventh with a double to left against Barnstormers starter Dwayne Pollok, who took a no-decision after allowing the game-tying homer to Perez, the next (and last) batter that Pollok faced.

York received two-out RBI singles from Michael Hernandez and Travis Scott (11-game hitting streak) in the fifth, pulling within 5-3.

Lancaster built an early lead when Adam Godwin led off the home first with an infield single, stole second and scored when Pedroza singled up the middle for his first hit on a three-hit night. Pedroza collected three RBI singles and walked twice, reaching base all five times.

Lancaster scored two unearned runs in the second on an RBI groundout by Brad Boyer and another Pedroza hit. Tiffee then cranked the first pitch in the bottom of the third out to right field for a solo home run, increasing their lead to 4-0.

The Revs got on the board in the top of the fourth when Kyle Haines beat out an attempted double-play turn, driving in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 4-1.

Lancaster again increased its lead to four runs when Tiffee roped an RBI single to center in the bottom of the fourth, making it 5-1.

The Barnstormers' bullpen finished strong, totaling five strikeouts in the final three innings, never allowing the Revs to go in front. Jeff Bennett (4-3) struck out Scott Grimes to end the eighth with a runner at first, earning the win. Tim Hamulack worked a scoreless ninth for his league-leading 14th save.

Revs reliever James Houser (2-1) tossed a scoreless seventh, but was charged with the first run in the eighth, suffering the loss.

Each of the top three batters in Lancaster's lineup had three-hit games. Godwin scored three times, while Pedroza and Tiffee both drove in three.

Hernandez went 3-for-5 to lead the York, which totaled 12 hits.

Notes: Perez's homer was his 11th of the season, breaking a four-way tie to take over the team lead. He also extended his hitting streak to eight consecutive games, and tied a team record by hitting a home run in three consecutive games. ... The Revs finished the first half 6-4 against the Barnstormers.
