A series of events to mark West York's baseball team's capturing the Class AAA state title will kick off Tuesday night.

That's the night the team will be honored before the York Revolution home game against the Somerset Patriots, said Paul Braverman, a Revolution spokesman.

West York's squad will also get to hang out with Revolution players before the game and will watch the game on the Revolution's tab, he said.

Throughout July, the Bulldogs will make its rounds to be receive recognition from various area businesses and county and municipal governments.

A parade through the streets of West York, followed by a ceremony at the high school, will be held on July 12, said Roger Czerwinski, the team's head coach.

"It's

just pretty cool that there's people out there in the community that are doing all this for the kids because they deserve it," he said.

Parade: When West York beat Lampeter-Strasburg 9-6 in the state title game in State College on June 15, they became the school's first team state champions since a cross country team won states in the 1970s, Czerwinski said.

With the most recent title came offer to do something special for the players.

Green Valley Swimming Pool and Sports Club in West Manchester Township will host a pool party for the team, and Crazy Tomato in West York will hold a pizza party for them.

The parade, which the public is invited to attend, will be kick off at West York Area High School, located at 1800 Bannister St., at 6 p.m.

While the exact parade route hasn't been finalized, Czerwinski said it will likely go through parts of West Manchester Township and West York.

The parade will end at the high school, where a ceremony will be held at 6:45 p.m., he said.

Czerwinski said the outpouring of well wishes doesn't surprise him.

Throughout the season, West York faithful backed the team and continually showed their support. When the team advanced to states, the entire county became West Yorkers, he said.

"The support the community gives in West York is just incredible," Czerwinski said. "It seemed we had the entire county on our backs to cheer us on."

Signs: The Bulldog baseball team will receive honors during the York County Commissioners' July 18 meeting.

The team will attend another government meeting when West Manchester Township supervisors honor them during the July 26 supervisors meeting, said Kelly Kelch, township manager.

Motorists entering the township will soon know they are in the midst of champions.

During Thursday's meeting, supervisors gave the go-ahead to put up signs at various points entering the township that state it is home of the 2012 Class AAA state baseball champions, Kelch said.

"We'll probably have them up in a week or two," he said.
