Spring Grove High School graduate Hali Flickinger entered this week's U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials with a daunting task -- competing in five different events over six days.
Despite that demanding schedule, the York YMCA swimmer seems to be getting stronger as the week wears on.
Early in the week, Flickinger placed 60th in the 400-meter individual medley in 4:55.66 and 43rd in the 400 freestyle in 4:17.74.
The University of Georgia recruit followed that up with a 30th-place finish in the 200 IM on Wednesday in 2:17.73.
On Thursday, Flickinger had her strongest swim yet at the event in Omaha, Neb. She finished 25th in the 200 butterfly in 2:13.44. She came into that event seeded No. 51 with a time of 2:13.81.
Flickinger's 25th-place finish was the best effort yet by a York County swimmer at the event. Overall, there were eight York County swimmers competing in Omaha.
Flickinger has one more event left -- the 200 backstroke on Saturday.
