York College placed 176 student-athletes on the 2011-12 Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The Spartans finished second in total number of student-athletes earning the honor, just four behind Salisbury's 180 honorees.York finished third in terms of percentage of student-athletes earning the accolade. The school had 43.9 percent of its athletes recognized for academic excellence.

The CAC All-Academic honors are earned when a student-athlete in a CAC-sponsored sport records a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 for the 2011-12 academic year.

York College is the only Capital Athletic Conference institution that sponsors all 21 conference sports.

Salisbury's top ranking this year for total honors snaps York's five-year run at the top of the category. The Spartans have led the conference in total honorees in eight of the last 10 years. York's 2011-12 total of 176 student-athletes is 11 behind the institutional record of 187 honorees in 2008-09. York has never finished below second in total number of honored student-athletes and has not placed below third in percentage of honored student-athletes during the history of the award.
