A police pursuit that started in Manchester Township ended in a crash in York City on Sunday.

The driver of the car, Peter Anthony LaCourt Jr., 36, of no fixed address is charged with fleeing and eluding, DUI, carrying a firearm without a license, possession with intent to deliver and multiple traffic offenses, according to Northern York County Regional Police.

He remains in York County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

An officer saw a black Acura, driven by LaCourt, traveling south on North George Street toward Route 30 without its lights on at 2:14 a.m., police said.

LaCourt turned onto Route 30 and was heading east when the officer turned on this emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the car.

The Acura turned left onto Toronita Street and went through a parking lot before getting back onto Route 30, this time heading west, police said.

The car accelerated and failed to stop for red traffic lights at intersections with Susquehanna Trail and Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

LaCourt turned left onto Pennsylvania Avenue, where he crashed the Acura near Parkway Boulevard in York City, police said.

LaCourt fled from the car on foot but was found hiding in shrubbery in a ditch along North Newberry Street by the officer, police said.

Officers said they found $1,200 in cash and a small bag of heroin on LaCourt. In the car they found a large bag of heroin and a loaded .40 caliber handgun, police said.

No one else was in the car.

LaCourt was arrested and taken to Central Booking for arraignment.
