Friendship Baptist Church recently welcomed its interim pastor.

The Rev. Darryl Gould Sr., 43, began serving June 10 at the church at 401 E. Market St. in York City, according to the church's joint board. The church was formerly led by the Rev. Melvin Baber.

Prior to serving Friendship, Gould -- who has 19 years of ministry experience -- served as executive pastoral assistant at the Shiloh Christian Community Church in Baltimore

In 2007, Gould graduated summa cum laude from Baltimore-based Coppin State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

Gould is pursuing a master of divinity degree at Virginia Union University's Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in Richmond, Va.

He is married to Nicole Gould.
