GETTYSBURG - The light-up map depicting the Civil War's most important battle is going up for auction.

The General Services Administration says the National Park Service can auction off the 30-by-30-foot electric map depicting the Gettysburg battlefield.

The map had been a fixture at the Gettysburg National Military Park for decades before officials pulled the plug on it in 2008 with the opening of a new museum and visitor center.

The map uses light bulbs to track troop movements during the battle in a 20-minute narrated show. It was built by Joseph Rosensteel, a Gettysburg man whose home had served as the battlefield museum.

Rosensteel's daughter tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/MOy5Ji ) she's disappointed the map will no longer be under the government's care and hopes it can be reinstalled somewhere nearby.
