Two former York County educators are having a homecoming of sorts after being hired by the York Suburban School District.

Brian Ellis, a Red Lion Area High School graduate, was hired as the new York Suburban Senior High School principal.

Christopher Adams was hired as the high school's assistant principal and athletic director.

Adams formerly worked as an athletic director in the West York and Dallastown school districts and most recently served as the transition principal for the Northern Tioga School District.

"It was really unique. They are both kind of coming home," said York Suburban Superintendent Kate Orban.

Ellis most recently served as assistant principal of Manheim Township High School in Lancaster County.

He'll be taking over for Russell Greenholt, who is leaving to become Conewago Valley School District's assistant superintendent.

Ellis, who is enrolled in Drexel University's doctorate program, has a background in computer science and math as well as curriculum work, Orban said.

Orban thinks the public will like Ellis' people skills.

"He has a strong attention to relationships with students and the community," Orban said.

Adams has a master's degree in exercise science and physical education from McDaniel College. Both will start in July.

The school board approved the hires on Monday. Ellis' salary is set at $110,608, and Adams' salary will be $95,000.
