A Hopewell Township man has been charged with attempted homicide, resisting arrest and other offenses after a June 3 incident in which he allegedly fired an AK-47 at a woman with whom he had been arguing.

Shawn Carmichael, 36, of the 4700 block of Anderson Road, was also arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, felons not to possess a firearm, recklessly discharging a firearm and recklessly endangering a person. He posted $300,000 bail earlier this week, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

Stewartstown Police were called to a domestic dispute between Carmichael, who was armed, and 29-year-old Jaquilla Hannible, according to charging documents.

Carmichael left the house on foot, taking the assault rifle with him. Later, Hannible, driving an SUV, found him lying in a front lawn in the 4600 block of Anderson Road.

She offered to take him to the hospital, but he "responded by firing the AK-47 at the Ford Explorer," striking it several times and causing her to lose control of the vehicle and strike a parked truck, according to documents.

Carmichael ran away, but was taken into custody after struggling with officers who found him hiding in a field.
