TANNERSVILLE, Pa.—An eastern Pennsylvania coroner says an elderly man died after being pulled from an early morning fire in a town house.

Authorities said the fire broke out in the upstairs bedroom of the unit at the Four Seasons at Camelback in Tannersville shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday

Chief Mike Shay of the Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company says arriving emergency medical personnel saw a woman on a couch downstairs.

They broke in and got the unconscious 51-year-old victim outside. She is being treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen says 89-year-old William Smolinsky was found unconscious upstairs.

Allen told the Pocono Record ( http://bit.ly/KtXuwO) that Smolinsky was taken to Pocono Medical Center, where he died at 9:18 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
