Red Lion residents may spot more Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania trucks along Cape Horn Road as the utility provider launches its latest facilities upgrade in the county.
The $2.25 million project will last until September and will affect 5,800 feet of pipeline between Windsor Road and Sharon Avenue, with construction causing traffic changes and temporary service interruptions to customers, according to spokesman Russell Bedell.
Construction, which will take place Monday through Friday, may change two-lane traffic patterns during the day and create one-lane courses at night, Bedell said. But the work will not cause any detours on the busy road, he said.
Customers may have a temporary interruption in their natural gas delivery during the work as service is connected to new gas mains. Columbia Gas will notify customers before shutting off service and again before restoration, Bedell said.
This work comes on the heels of a $2.6 million project on Princess Street in York City.
Columbia Gas will also initiate a $1.4 million upgrade in Shrewsbury and a $613,000 upgrade in Dallastown this summer.
