Westbound traffic on Route 30 will be slower than usual during the day Wednesday.

Workers will be repairing potholes on the Route 30 bridge over the Susquehanna River and will close one lane of traffic westbound, so drivers will be restricted to the express lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

The lane closure is necassry as the workers try to complete the repairs before the Memorial Day holiday, PennDOT said.

The work is part of a $9.35 million, two-year project to rehab the bridge and extend its life, PennDOT said. Swank Associated Co. Inc. of New Kensington is the lead contractor in the project, which is expected to be completed by November.
