Cool Creek Golf Club used strong, consistent play from its top four scorers on Sunday to capture the McConkey & Co. Insurance and Benefits York County Amateur Golf Association Interclub Championship at Pleasant Valley Golf Club near Stewartstown.

The event featured 13 six-man teams. Each team counted its top four individual scores toward its team total, plus a team best-ball score.

All four of Cool Creek's top four players shot 74 or lower, paced by Fred Bowers and Rod Crumbling Jr. at 1-over-par 73. Jay Kostenbauder and John Lowder Jr. fired 74s for Cool Creek, which had a team best-ball score of 63, good for a 357 total.

Cool Creek, located in Wrightsville, has now won the Interclub title five times in the 20-year history of the event, with its last championship coming in 2010. That is more than any other YCAGA club. Country Club of York, which was the defending champion in the event, has won four Interclub crowns, followed by Grandview and Briarwood at three titles apiece.

South Hills Golf Club near Hanover, the 2009 champion, settled for second place at 360, just three shots behind Cool Creek. Matt Henry fired a 3-under-par 69 to lead South Hills. Darrell Bryant added a 75 for the Hanover club, followed by Josh Arentz (77) and Eric Helwig (78). South Hills had the top team best-ball score at 11-under-par 61.

There was a three-way tie for third at 376 among Country Club of York, Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Out Door Country Club.

Bon Air Country Club's Bobby Stiffler captured the individual title at 4-under-par 68, followed by Henry at 69. Regents' Glen Country Club's Steve Gekas took third at 72, while Bowers, Crumbling Jr. and Out Door's Brent Walker tied for fourth at 73s.

Kostenbauder and Lowder Jr. tied for seventh at 74s along with Grandview's Bob Ruby.

Tying for 10th at 75 were Bryant, Hanover Country Club's Alex Daubert, Heritage Hills' Steve Goodley and Country Club of York's Todd Kennedy.

The next stop on the YCAGA schedule is the McClarin Plastics Inc. York County Senior and Super Senior Championship at Springwood Golf Club on Sunday, June 10.
