Two local boxing talents are set to return to the ring next month.

Stevie Weimer and Jesus Saucedo are scheduled to fight in separate bouts at a boxing event at the Valencia Ballroom in York on June 16.

It would be the first bouts for the boxers since they each competed at the York Expo Center in December.

Weimer is currently training in Las Vegas this week, while his trainer, Julio Alvarez, is busy making connections with promoters. Weimer is 8-0 in his amateur career and is still searching for a contract with a boxing promoter.

"I have a lot of connections in Vegas," Alvarez said by phone on Tuesday evening. "We're trying to get (Weimer) to 10-0 and see if we can get him a chance to sign with a promoter."

Both opponents for Weimer, a welterweight (140 to 147 pounds), and Saucedo (3-0), a light welterweight (135 to 140 pounds), at the June 16 event are yet to be determined. Alvarez said he's looking to book up to six fights, with Weimer being in the main event.

Alvarez said York resident Carnie "Beeper" Bowman will not compete. Bowman has been out of action since December 2010, when he won a bout to improve to 16-0 in the lightweight (130 to 135 pounds) division.
