A York City man escaped serious injury Thursday night when he was shot while hanging out with friends, police said.
Frankie Ford III, 30, of Harding Court, was taken to York Hospital in a private vehicle, police said. He was treated for his injuries and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Officers went to the hospital and interviewed Ford after being notified of the shooting by hospital personnel, police said.
Ford told officers he was hanging out with friends in the 100 block of East Charles Lane about 8:55 p.m. when they heard four or five gunshots, police said.
Ford said he and his friends hit the ground, and when he got up to run he realized he'd been shot.
He suffered two bullet wounds to the outside of his right thigh and a third bullet wound to the top of his right foot, police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detectives at 849-2219, or call the city's anonymous crime tip line, 849-2204. Or anonymously text a tip to YORKTIPS at 847411.
