Someone shot a York City man in the leg Thursday morning in an alley, police said.

York City Police said Lonnie McKinnis was walking on East Gas Avenue, between Queen and Pine streets, about 5:25 a.m. when he heard someone say, "Hey, come here for a minute."

McKinnis said no and kept walking, police said.

He heard two gunshots and kept walking, police said, then heard a third gunshot and realized he'd been shot in the right calf. He walked to a business in the 100 block of North Duke Street and called 911, police said.

He told responding officers the shooter was wearing a black and white checkered shirt, police said.

McKinnis, 54, of the 800 block of East Market Street, was taken to York Hospital by ambulance, police said. His condition was not available Thursday morning.
