York Habitat for Humanity is looking for female volunteers to participate in this week's Women Build event.
Building will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and Saturday.
"No experience is required, and it's a great way to learn new skills for free," said Miles Worden, director of community relations and development for York Habitat for Humanity.
Women Build events have helped to construct more than 1,800 houses. Each year the event brings women together to address the housing crisis.
"The Women Build event has been held for the past 26 years, and it's always the week before Mother's Day," said Worden.
Training: A how-to clinic on installing exterior siding and drywall will be held on Wednesday at the Lowe's at 2449 E. Market St. Participation is not required for those planning to help during the Women Build event.
Individuals who plan to help out on Thursday or Saturday should pre-register by calling Jade Smith at 854-6168, ext. 106, or emailing jade@yorkhabitat.org.
Next year, York Habitat for Humanity plans to hold an eight-month project where women will build an entire house, rather than just building for one week, Worden said. Volunteers are welcome for that committee, too.
