York City Education Association president Kim Schwarz was featured on MSNBC program "The Ed Show" Wednesday night discussing education funding cuts.
Schwarz has decried Gov. Tom Corbett's budgets that have taken away grant funding, charter school tuition reimbursement and basic education funding from the impoverished school district. Those cuts have led to the district for two years in a row asking teachers for a wage freeze. Teachers agreed to the freeze last year but voted against it this year, as Schwarz said teachers can't keep funding education through wage concessions.
Schwarz has also said teachers understand York City administrators are not to blame for the dire budget situation that has the district facing a $19 million deficit. The video clip from MSNBC is above and also available at www.msnbc.msn.com
