A four-alarm fire in the first block of B Street in Carlisle is destroying a large building, threatening nearby homes and keeping crews from several fire departments busy, probably all night.

Two hours after the alarm, the fire continued spreading, and part of the building collapsed.

The fire was first reported at about 10:20 p.m. at the former Lear Corp Building, which was also the former Masland carpet plant. It is owned by Carlisle Events and was vacant, although the company, which runs car shows, was just starting to renovate it.
