Two York City Police officers on foot patrol interrupted a shooting shortly before 8 p.m. Monday night, but not before a York City man took a shot to the leg.
Officers on foot patrol heard shots and responded to the intersection of South Duke and East Maple streets, police said.
Upon arrival, they saw Carlos Alberto Crisostomo, of the 400 block of South Duke Street, firing a handgun at an unknown person, police said.
Crisostomo dropped the gun at the officers' command, and they discovered he had been shot once in the leg. Police said it was not clear whether the bullet was shot from Cristomo's gun or another gun.
He was taken to York Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after surgery Monday night.
Anyone with information is asked to call the York City Police Department at 846-1234.
