York's Justin Krebs was the top finisher from York County during Monday's 116th Boston Marathon.

Krebs, 37, finished in 2 hours, 47 minutes, 8 seconds to finish 161st overall during a sultry day in New England when temperatures nearly soared into the 90s. He averaged 6:23 per mile.

The next two-best runners from York County were: Etters' Michael Mills, 37, who timed in at 3:23.57 to finish at 2,252nd overall, and York's Shawn Whitecomb, who completed the race in 3:28.50 to finish 2,907th overall.

The top female finisher from York County was York's Kendra Sirolly, 36, who finished in 3:38.17, good for 4,261st overall and 754th among women.

The oldest York County runner was 70-year-old Marlyn Hahn from York, who clocked in at 5:52.19 -- 20,448th overall. The youngest York County runner was 24-year-old Alysha Rodriguez, who finished in 5:10.48 -- 18,464th overall.

Kenyan Wesley Korir -- a permanent resident of the United States -- won the men's race in 2:12.40. It was almost 10 minutes behind the world best established here a year ago by Geoffrey Mutai and the second-slowest Boston victory since 1985.

Sharon Cherop won the women's race to complete the Kenyan sweep, outkicking Jemima Jelagat Sumgong to win by 2 seconds in 2:31:50.

Levy Matebo finished 26 seconds behind Korir, and Bernard Kipyego was third as Kenyans swept the podium in both genders. Jason Hartmann, of Boulder, Colo., was in fourth place and the top American. The winners will receive $150,000 apiece.

The heat slowed the leaders and led to warnings that may have convinced as many as 4,300 no-shows to sit this one out. Race organizers offered those who picked up their registration packets but did not start the opportunity to save a place in next year's race.

A total of 22,426 runners started the race in Hopkinton -- about 84 percent of the registered field of 26,716 entrants.
