A York City man angry at his sister because she wouldn't let him borrow her car stabbed his wife when she tried to intervene in the argument, police said.

Miguel Angel Ayala-Vasquez, 21, of 615 E. Market St., Apt. 7, is charged with simple assault for Wednesday's 12:36 p.m. incident, which happened at his home.

York City Police said Ayala-Vasquez wanted to borrow sister Maryneth Quinones' car, but she wouldn't let him because he doesn't have a driver's license.

The siblings started to argue and Ayala-Vasquez pulled out a knife and tried to stab Quinones, police said. That's when his wife, Carmen Morales, got involved and sided with her sister-in-law, police said.

Ayala-Vasquez then stabbed Morales in the left shoulder and right arm, police said; he then fled the area.

Morales, 35, of the same address, was treated at York Hospital, police said. Quinones, 26, also of the same address, wasn't hurt.

Ayala-Vasquez was arrested when he returned home about two hours later. He told officers he didn't mean to stab his wife, but became angry and went crazy, according to police.
