Adam Baer, eyeing a three-peat in the Bud Light York County Match Play Championship, will begin match play Saturday in first place.

The Gettysburg right-hander made a strong move in the second day of qualifying Sunday at Suburban Bowlerama, jumping from fifth place to first.

Baer, who averaged 243 on Sunday, rolled a 289 in Game 5 to take command. He finished the day with a 12-game total of 2,870 pins, 13 more than Chris Lakatosh.

The top 12 bowlers advance to match play, beginning 2 p.m. Saturday at East Lincoln Lanes. The tourney concludes Sunday at Lion Bowl.

Dan Noel and Gage Shultz rolled 300 games in Sunday's qualifying session.
