A York City woman is charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing 90 items from Walmart in Springettsbury Township on April 3.

Valerie A. Butler, 45, of 630 E. Chestnut St., hid the merchandise, which included household goods and clothing, in Walmart bags and suitcases, said Sgt. Tony Beam of Springettsbury Township Police.

Butler left the store without paying for the items, valued at $737.59, but was stopped by a loss prevention officer, police said.

Along with the retail theft charge, Butler is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

She was free on $10,000 bail, but bail was revoked Thursday after she was arrested by York Area Regional Police for retail theft and harassment on April 6, according to online court documents.

Butler remains in York County Prison.
