The Red Lion boys' lacrosse team used a fantastic finish to wipe out an extremely slow start on Thursday afternoon.

The result was an 11-10 closing-seconds victory over Central York.

Nick Young's unassisted goal with 22 seconds remaining in the match lifted the Lions over the Panthers.

Young scored just 1:05 after teammate Cody Raver tied the contest on an assist from Dominic Ruocco.

Red Lion, which trailed, 5-1, at the end of the first quarter and 8-4 at halftime, outscored the visitors, 7-2, in the second half.

"We just came together finally (in the second half)," Lions' head coach Brett Raver said. "We started winning ground balls."

Cody Raver, Tanner Reif and Zach Nichols had two goals and one assist apiece for Red Lion.

C.J. Belker pumped in five goals for Central, and Ian Desenberg supplied three goals. Nate Troupe scored one goal and assisted on three others for the Panthers, and Max Haldeman delivered three assists.

Red Lion and Central are now tied for second place in York-Adams Division I at 5-2. Red Lion is 5-4 overall, while Central is 5-3. Dallastown leads Division I at 8-0.

OTHER BOYS' LACROSSE

WEST YORK 9, KEN NARD-DALE 6: At West York, Hunter Heath (three goals), Seth Clauser (one goal, four assists), Klayton Garman (two goals, one assist), Alex Raffensberger (two goals), Nick Wilker (one goal, one assist) and Tanner Gerace (two assists) led West York to the win. The Bulldogs improved to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in York-Adams Division II. The Bulldogs are tied with Susquehannock for first place in the division.

YORK SUBURBAN 10, YORK CATHOLIC 4: At Suburban, Kris Reinhold (four goals, one assist), Cameron Sprenkle (three goals, two assists), Camden Kelliher (two goals) and Anthony Bettencourt (goal, assist) sparked Suburban. Peter Lijoi's two goals led York Catholic.

DALLASTOWN 14, SPRING GROVE 2: At Spring Grove, Kyle Kunkowski led the Wildcats to the York-Adams Division I win with three goals and one assist. Pat Conroy scored two goals and added three assists for Dallastown, while Jake Mitchell had one goal and two assists. Tanner Ierley scored two goals, while Tanner Bogacyzk scored one goal and added one assist. For the Rockets, Zach Gregory scored both goals. Dallastown leads the division at 8-0.

SUSQUEHANNOCK 14, NEW OXFORD 8: At New Oxford, Zach Speights had five goals and three assists to spark the Warriors. Phil Norris added three goals and three assists for the winners, while Zach Gloeckner collected three goals and two assists. John Wallace led the Colonials with four goals.

GIRLS' LACROSSE

YORK CATHOLIC 19, YORK SUBURBAN 5: At York Catholic, Alexis China (five goals, four assists) powered the Lady Irish to the win. York Catholic improved to 6-1 both overall and in York-Adams Division II. Lindsay Ingram (four goals, one assist), Shannon Moore (two goals, three assists), Natalie Fiorenza (two goals) and Lindsay Givens (one goal, one assist) also excelled for York Catholic. Karis Reiter had two Suburban goals.

KENNARD-DALE 20, WEST YORK 10: At Kennard-Dale, Lyndsey Duty led the Rams to the York-Adams Division II victory by scoring five goals and adding one assist. Morgan Day (four goals), Nicole Black (three goals, seven assists), Carlie Schmitt (three goals, one assist), Briana Gress (two goals, two assists) and Taylor Davis (one goal, one assist) also excelled for K-D. For the Bulldogs, Allie Ilgenfritz scored four goals, while Karli Breeden scored three goals and Sara Sweitzer scored two goals. K-Dale improved to 8-0 in the division and 8-0 overall.

STATE COLLEGE 12, RED LION 9: At Red Lion, the Lions trailed 6-5 at the half, but were unable to recover and dropped the non-league contest. Alyssa Dehoff led the Lions with four goals. Desi Martin scored two goals for the Lions, while Sierra Donovan added one goal and one assist.

NEW OXFORD 14, DAL LASTOWN 4: At Dallastown, Liz Conn led the Colonials to the York-Adams Division I victory, by scoring four goals. Sarah Kindschun collected three goals and one assist, while Summer Walter and Sam Brzenk each scored two goals. Megan Elder had one goal and one assist. For the Wildcats, Carly Godstrey scored one goal and added one assist.

SUSQUEHANNOCK 15, SPRING GROVE 5: At Glen Rock, Brooke Clasing led the Warriors to the York-Adams Division II victory by scoring a game-high four goals. Bri Boyer and Carley VanLuit each scored three goals for the winners. For the Rockets, Shelby Walter scored three goals.
