Police on Wednesday arrested a York City woman accused of robbing a Springettsbury Township bank on Monday.
Opal Smeltzer, 35, of no fixed address, was taken to the county's central booking unit to be charged with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property, according to township Sgt. Tony Beam.
She was arrested Wednesday morning in York City, he said.
Smeltzer is accused of robbing the Susquehanna Bank branch at 2508 Eastern Blvd.
She entered the bank about 3:45 p.m., threatened to have a gun and demanded money from a teller, Beam said. After getting cash, Smeltzer fled in a maroon Dodge Caravan, he said.
A witness to the robbery was able to get her license-plate number and gave it to responding officers, Beam said.
The sergeant said investigators also learned a woman fitting Smeltzer's description was seen acting suspiciously in a Wrightsville-area bank on Monday morning, although that bank wasn't robbed.
