The 64-year-old Conewago Township woman found dead Tuesday morning inside her High Street home sustained severe and multiple blunt-force injuries to her face and head during an apparent struggle with her killer, according to court documents released this morning.
State police say 25-year-old Jonathan Edward Leonard fatally beat his 64-year-old aunt, Christina Leonard, in her Adams County home and then fled in her car.
Christina Leonard's body was discovered Tuesday morning after another family member went to check on her after she didn't show up for work.
Jonathan Leonard was arrested later Tuesday. The McSherrystown man is being held without bail on charges of criminal homicide, robbery and theft by unlawful taking.
Court documents filed with Magisterial District Judge Daniel S. Bowman say the inside of Christina Leonard's home at 725 High St. showed signs of a struggle, including broken furniture. Police say traces of blood were also found throughout the home.
