York County faces two kinds of hazardous weather Friday.

York County and the surrounding areas were under a freeze warning until 8 a.m. Friday, and the National Weather Service warned that freezing temperatures are likely over the next few nights.

The area is also under a red flag warning because dry weather and gusting winds will mean an elevated risk of wildfires from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, the NWS said.

Friday will be sunny, with a high of 58 and north winds of 7-10 mph increasing to 17-20 mph, the forecast said. Friday night will be clear, with a low of 31 and north winds calming to 6-13 mph.

The freeze warning means young plants and plants that have already bloomed should be protected or brought inside for the night, the service said. The red flag warning means any fires could quickly get out of control.

The weather will remain much the same for the holiday weekend. Saturday will be sunny, with a high of 63 and winds from the north increasing to 15-18 mph, the forecast said. Saturday night will be clear, with a low of 36 and calm winds.

Easter Sunday will be sunny, with a high of 67 and west winds of 13-16 mph gusting to 28 mph, the forecast said. Sunday night has a chance of showers and a low of 42.

The chance of showers continues Monday, with a high of 61 and low of 38, the NWS said.

Tuesday will be cloudy, with a high of 54 and low of 36, the forecast said.
