LANCASTER - A central Pennsylvania car salesman has been sentenced to 3½ to 14 years in the death of a man he took on a test drive more than a year ago.

Forty-nine-year-old Michael Hershey of Landisville pleaded guilty in January in Lancaster County Court to homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and reckless endangerment.

Authorities said he had been drinking and was speeding when he hit an embankment in East Hempfield Township in December 2010, killing 48-year-old customer Jon Jensen and injuring the victim's son.

The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era (http://bit.ly/FOM7XW ) says Judge James Cullen told Hershey at Friday's sentencing that he was "simply a disaster waiting to happen."

Hershey apologized in court to relatives of the victim, saying "I can't imagine the pain I put you through."
