Hanover High School has a new head football coach and he's a familiar name to York County fans.

Mike Ketterman was approved as the Nighthawks' new head coach by the Hanover School Board on Monday night.

Ketterman has been a coach for 21 seasons, including 10 seasons as a head coach at Dallastown and York Tech. His record as a head coach was 42-48. He was an assistant at Kennard-Dale last season.

Ketterman will replace Jason Potts, who resigned after a 1-9 season in 2011. Hanover was 8-32 in four seasons under Potts. The Nighthawks are 11-50 over the last six years.

Hanover will be playing its first full season in a refurbished Sheppard-Myers Field in 2012. The Nighthawks played all but one game on the road last season while the aging facility was being renovated.
