RED LION _ The Northeastern Bobcats worked overtime on Monday night to earn a PIAA Class AAA state playoff berth.

The seventh-seeded Bobcats rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to beat 14th-seeded Palmyra, 65-58, in OT at Red Lion High School.

With the victory, Northeastern can finish no worse than sixth in the district and the top six teams in AAA advance to state competition.

The Bobcats trailed 41-38 entering the fourth quarter after Palmyra used a 20-15 third-period surge to take the lead. Northeastern, however, outscored Palmyra 14-11 in the final stanza and 13-6 in OT to grab the victory.

The Bobcats (16-9) will now face fifth-seeded Greencastle (23-4) in the District 3-AAA fifth-place game on Thursday at a site and time to be determined. Greencastle beat Bishop McDevitt on Monday, 74-71.

With the losses, ninth-seeded McDevitt (14-11) and Palmyra (14-12) saw their seasons come to an end.

Chris Nwandu pumped in 23 points to lead Northeastern, while Elijah Cooper added 22. Khalid Nwandu chipped in 11 points for the winners. Chris Nwandu had nine of Northeastern's 13 OT points, including a perfect 6-for-6 effort at the foul line.
