Area country music fans will be able to see more than a dozen nationally known country music musicians free at this year's York Fair, thanks to Great Country 107.7 WGTY.

The radio station on Thursday announced most of its lineup for "10 Nites of Hot Country Acts." Most of the concerts will be held at the Great Country Radio Stage near Memorial Hall.

Rick Kennis, promotions coordinator WGTY, said the station brings the free shows as a thanks to its loyal listeners.

"A lot of them are pretty big names with current hits," he said. "They're selected for fan favorites for the area. (Fans) say who they would like to see. Every time, every year, it seems we top the previous year and bring more big names to the area for free."

This year's lineup includes Steve Holy, who's very popular in York and beyond for his hit song "Good Morning, Beautiful."

Other big-name performers include Jason Michael Carroll, famous for "Alyssa Lies," a song about child abuse. Josh Thompson, also performing, brings more upbeat tunes such as "Beer on the Table," Kennis said.

The concerts are free with admission to the fair and are generally standing-room only, he said.

"They're immensely popular," Kennis said. "People know that they're going to see a good show. National acts with current hits. It's a packed house."

Artists often hang around after the show to meet with people in the crowd, he said.
