The Internal Revenue Service is canceling the furlough day scheduled for Monday, the agency reported this week.

Due to impacts of the sequester cuts, the agency previously reported five days during the spring and summer when it would have to furlough employees and temporarily close offices. Those days were May 24, June 14, July 5, July 22 and Aug. 30.

Because the IRS was able to cut costs in other ways, the agency will operate as usual on Monday, according to a press release.

The IRS is also considering the status of the scheduled furlough day for Friday, Aug. 30 and will announce its decision closer to that time, the release said.
