Hanover motorists could encounter lane closures and detours this week as Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania begins a project to upgrade its equipment.
The $1.88 million project will replace more than 9,000 feet of existing pipe on York Street between Broadway Street and Hirtland Avenue.
Lane closures and detours are possible during construction hours, which will occur 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Construction will cause a temporary interruption of natural gas service to customers in the area, and each customer will be notified by Columbia Gas prior to the interruption and restoration of service.
The company expects the project to be completed by the end of the year, according to a news release.
