Shipley Energy on Wednesday alerted customers to a phone system failure.
The company's telephone system has been experiencing intermittent outages because of complications caused by Hurricane Sandy, said Brett Hoffmaster, vice president of marketing.
Shipley's service provider is working to restore standard service, but it could remain a problem through the weekend, he said.
In the interim, the company has set up alternatives to communicate with customers.
Customers are asked to visit www.myshipley.com to submit questions, manage their accounts or chat with a live agent. Shipley will also respond to customers within an hour if they email the company at sandy@shipleyenergy.com. Or customers can call 800-980-4091, which is a temporary number Shipley has set up during the phone outage.
