Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station on Monday announced its Unit 2 returned to full power Sunday evening.

The unit had been removed from service since Sept. 9, when the Delta-based atomic power station began its planned, fall refueling outage.

Workers replaced nearly one-third of the reactor's fuel and performed maintenance during Peach Bottom's fourth consecutive, uninterrupted two-year operating cycle, according to a news release.

Technicians replaced all three low-pressure turbines on Unit 2 with new, high-efficiency units that will allow it to generate more power for the regional grid, according to the release.

"With the help of thousands of supplemental workers, we completed a number of enhancements this year that will allow us to continue providing reliable power to the region for years to come," said Garey Stathes, site vice president.
