Kim Miller describes her new business as a very peaceful place.

The entire property is surrounded by vineyards and woods, as tree limbs arch over the natural beauty of southern York County's fertile farmland.

"It's picturesque and serene," Miller said.

She and her husband, Joe Miller, bought Seven Valleys Vineyard and Winery in February, refurbished the property and will host a grand reopening from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Glen Rock winery, at 885 Georges Court, closed in 2009 after former co-owner Fred Hunter passed away.

He and his wife, Lynn Hunter, first planted the vineyard in 1976, revamped the 250-year-old house and barn on the property, and they opened the winery in 1994, according to the Millers. Wines created by the Hunters earned many awards during their years of ownership, the new owners said.

Remodeling: The Millers have expanded on both the property and menu since buying the business earlier this year.

They've expanded the parking lot and deck, added 3,000 vines and remodeled an antiquated bathroom, Kim Miller said.

"We're excited to meet people and show them what we've done," she said.

And the couple has had a lot of fun doing it, she said.

Kim Miller has a background in sales and merchandising, while her husband has agricultural and horticultural degrees from Penn State. He also works as operations manager at Hively Landscapes in Dover.

The Millers have always wanted a farm and love wine, so Seven Valleys was a perfect fit, Kim Miller said.

This week, they've been working in the fields, getting ready to harvest.

"It's so rewarding to be involved in the process from start to finish, watching something grow and then seeing people enjoy the wine in the tasting room," she said.

Wine tastings will be held during the grand re-opening event this weekend, which will include food and live music.

Five varieties of wine will be offered--General's Reserve, a dry red; Kimberly's Blush, a semisweet option; a chardonnay; another white, and an apple wine.

Hours of operation are noon to 7 p.m. Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
