PeoplesBank has hired a new executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Michael Allen is joining the senior management team and assuming responsibility for the bank's sales and services division, the company announced on Wednesday.
In his new role, he will oversee retail banking, business banking, wealth management, credit quality, information technology and deposit/credit services.
"As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2014, Mike will play an integral role in positioning our company for the future," CEO Larry Miller said in a statement.
Allen most recently served as executive vice president and chief credit officer at Kish Bank in Belleville, Pa.
Hair Cuttery is launching its 13th annual Share A Haircut event.
For every haircut purchased from Aug. 1 to 15, for a child 18 years old or younger, the salon will donate a free haircut to a disadvantaged child in the community.
The company expects 75,000 free haircuts to be donated during the two-week period, according to a news release.
Last year, more than 7,000 haircuts were donated in Pennsylvania, according to the release.
Hair Cuttery operates six locations in York County: Carlisle Commerce Center in West Manchester Township, Queensgate Towne Center in York Township, York Town Center in Springettsbury Township, Shrewsbury Shopping Center in Shrewsbury, and Hanover Crossing and Gateway Hanover in Hanover.
Faster Internet speeds
Beginning this week, Comcast is doubling the Internet speeds of two of its tiers at no additional cost to customers.
Xfinity Blast! Customers will now get download speeds of up to 50 Mbps (formerly 25 Mbps), and Extreme 50 customers will now receive speeds of up to 105 Mbps (formerly 50 Mbps), the company said in a news release.
Comcast also announced plans to launch Xfinity Platinum Internet, a new ultra-fast speed tier, throughout markets in its Northeast division, according to the release.
It will offer download speeds of up to 305 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 65 Mbps.
