After gaining accreditation in three new areas, the Breast Center at Memorial Hospital recently received the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology.

The center, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, was previously accredited in mammography and also recently became accredited in breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, according to a news release.

Since completing that six-month process, the center is now designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR.

The ACR has board-certified physicians and medical physicists do peer review evaluations in breast imaging centers to determine if a center has reached high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

"We are most proud of the quality of our work. Not just our clinical work, but the emphasis we put on customer experience. Our patients experience that when they come to us," said Connie Yohe, Breast Center supervisor.
