Atlanta-based BWAY Corp. is expanding its York County footprint.
The container manufacturer intends to build a 60,000-square-foot warehouse at its Davies Drive address, according to plans submitted to Springettsbury Township.
The plans, which were developed by York-based Site Designs Concepts Inc., also include a 64-space parking lot, truck docks and paved areas for trailers.
Though BWAY has received permission from the township, construction isn't expected to begin soon, a company spokesman said.
Executives are taking the next six months to finalize plans, and it would take several months after that to build the new facility, said Jeff O'Connell, spokesman for BWAY.
The expansion isn't expected to create any new jobs, he said, but the plans would transfer some of the company's 145 workers in the county.
Upon completion of the project, employees who are working at an outside warehouse seven miles away in York would be relocated to the hub in Springettsbury.
BWAY operates 22 plants in the United States and Canada, and it uses its York County manufacturing facility to make paint and aerosol cans.
The company's 12.5-acre lot at 599 Davies Drive houses a 97,000-square-foot building used for manufacturing and office space, six truck docks, trailer storage and 74 parking spaces.
