A cosmetics company will soon be shipping hair dye and other products from a former Harley-Davidson distribution center and warehouse in East Manchester Township.
L'Oréal USA will create 100 jobs later this year when it opens the facility at 75 Steamboat Boulevard, according to a news release by California-based Panattoni Development Company, which bought the building last year and recently signed a 12-year lease with L'Oréal.
Trucks will deliver the company's Salon Centric products to retail locations across the Northeast, according to the release.
Harley developed the building, located in Brickyard Industrial Park, in 2002. The 193,000-
square-foot space was formerly a distribution center for parts and motorcycles, supporting operations at Harley's manufacturing plant in Springettsbury Township. As part of that plant's restructuring, the company moved out of the warehouse last summer. The work previously done at the warehouse is now split between the plant and external sources.
When Panattoni bought the building last August, the firm said the property was "an opportunity to acquire the largest block of Class A space available in the York County sub-market," and that it fits well into its strategy for expanding the Panattoni industrial portfolio across the Northeast.
A L'Oréal spokesman could not be reached immediately Tuesday morning to comment on when the facility will begin hiring or open.
