A new manager will take the helm in Springettsbury Township later this month.

The township's board of supervisors recently hired Kristen Denne, a former manager in the City of Johnstown.

Springettsbury will pay Denne an annual salary of $120,000, said George Dvoryak, the board's chairman.

Denne is the first woman to hold the position in Springettsbury Township.

Experience: In addition to her time in Johnstown, Denne worked previously as the manager in the Pennsylvania boroughs of Dormont and Ambridge.

She holds a master's degree in public administration and is working toward a doctorate, according to a news release.

"She has the credentials to take our township government to the next level," Dvoryak said.

Managing the township's $34 million annual budget "requires some special skills," he said.

Dvoryak said the board is relying on Denne to navigate the township's traffic issues and to pursue cost-cutting agreements with other municipalities.

Previous leader: Former township manager John Holman left his position June 16 to take a city manager position in St. Mary's, Ga.

The township board of supervisors hired a firm, Colin Baenziger & Associates, to conduct the search for Holman's replacement.

Dvoryak said the board interviewed four candidates, including Denne.

Denne will start Sept. 22.
