A convicted sex offender who allegedly mugged a woman in Glen Rock Sunday afternoon didn't count on two good Samaritans thwarting his scheme, according to police.

Now Patrick Allen Dent, 34, of 18417 York Road in Parkton, Md., is in York County Prison on $150,000 bail, charged with robbery, simple assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Southern Regional Police said a 44-year-old Glen Rock-area woman was walking in the first block of Baltimore Street about 2:25 p.m. when Dent came up from behind and grabbed her purse.

When the woman fought back by trying to hang onto her purse, Dent began punching her in the ribs, police said.

Dent was overpowering the woman when two men driving by saw the attack and rushed over to help, according to police.

Wrestled to ground: The men, both from southern York County, struggled with Dent and eventually wrestled him to the ground, police said. They held him there until officers arrived to arrest him, police said.

Dent's intended victim and the two men who came to her defense all suffered minor injuries, but none had to be transported to the hospital, police said.

Dent had been free on bail in two pending York County court cases.

In April, state police filed charges of drunken driving and drug possession with intent to deliver against Dent, according to court records.

And in October 2013, Stewartstown Police filed theft charges against him, records state.

Sex with girl: In 2006, a York County judge sentenced Dent to four to eight years in state prison for having sex with a child.

He plied girls with alcohol at underage drinking parties and had sex with a 13-year-old girl, according to police.

Dent eventually pleaded guilty to felony counts of statutory sexual assault, as well as four counts of indecent assault, five counts of corrupting the morals of minors and one count each of unlawful contact with a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The parties were held by Dent and a co-defendant at a home on Brookmeadow Circle in Shrewsbury, Southern Regional Police have said.
