Two York City roommates accused of committing two bank robberies in Newberry Township are still sharing the same digs, but they can no longer come and go as they please.

Saad Adda and Richard Buckner, both of 106 S. Queen St., are accused of robbing the Santander Bank at 36 Robin Hood Drive on July 19 and robbing the Members 1st Federal Credit Union at 350 Newberry Commons Drive on Aug. 9.

Adda, 45, remains in York County Prison on a total of $350,000 bail; Buckner, 48, is locked up there on a total of $100,000 bail, records state. They are charged with robbery and related offenses.

Adda also is charged in a third bank robbery.

Police said he robbed the M&T Bank on East Forrest Avenue in Shrewsbury about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. A witness told officers the robber had fled in a tan Jeep, and officers pulled over a Jeep fitting that description on Interstate 83 between the Loganville and Leader Heights exits, police have said.

Zeroed in: But charging documents indicate police in Newberry Township had already zeroed in on Adda as a suspect.

Adda walked into the Santander bank just after 11:30 a.m., handed a teller a note demanding cash and made off with $1,420, according to charging documents filed by Newberry Township Police.

Adda used the same MO to rob the Members 1st Bank just before 11 a.m., documents state, and made off with about $2,037.

In both robberies he sported a fedora, and in both he fled in a tan or gold SUV that was driven by Buckner, charging documents allege.

Recognized: On Aug. 10, the day after the Members 1st robbery, bank employees told police they recognized Adda as an account holder at that bank branch, and gave police security photos of Adda from previous transactions, documents state.

When Southern Regional Police arrested Adda on Tuesday, they seized his tan Jeep Liberty, according to charging documents. He confessed to all three robberies, police said.

It is unclear whether Adda and Buckner have retained attorneys.
