Michael Shingler was treated and released from York Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said on Sunday.
A York City man is expected to survive his wound after being shot Saturday night, police said.
At about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 300 block of West Gay Street for a shooting incident.
York City Police said they found Michael Shingler, of South Hartley Street, had been shot once in the back while visiting with friends in the area.
Shingler and witnesses said they heard about five shots fired when Shingler was hit, police said.
Shingler was transported to York Hospital by White Rose Ambulance. York Hospital staff stated the wounds were not life threatening, police said. .
